Expedition Camps

The Sapphire Coast of NSW is the perfect environment for middle and senior school expedition programs. Pristine estuaries and forested bushland meets the stunning coastline. Groups also experience the varied wildlife such as large monitor lizards, bandicoots, sea eagles, dolphins and whales in season.

Program Outline

In small groups, the students are responsible for leading all aspects of their expedition. Tasks include constructing rafts to cross estuaries, food preparation and cooking, leadership, navigation and management of group issues. Due to the basic structure of these programs participants develop
self-reliance, teamwork, initiative, trust and confidence.

Coastlife works with school staff to tailor a program to meet the groups challenge level and specific outcomes required by the subject area.
All equipment is supplied and a comprehensive information booklet is provided for staff and students.

Locations for expedition camps

Mimosa Rocks National Park Walk. This park embraces 20km of spectacular coastline between Bermagui and Tathra. The journey includes a diverse range of beaches, sea caves, headlands and lagoons, which often need the construction of a raft to get the group across.
Light To Light Walk (Ben Boyd National Park). This expedition is unique in that it begins and ends at an historic lighthouse. This rugged coastline in between provides amazing beaches, sheltered coastal inlets and a variety of plants and wildlife, both land and aquatic based.

We also conduct our journey programs in other coastal National Parks.
